This week… 9-15 November

Izzy had her first ever parents evening. According to her teacher she has settled in lovely at school and is always enthusiastic about everything! The best bit was looking through some of her workbooks, such as the ‘Weekend News’ were she draws a picture every Monday to explain what she has done over the weekend. It’s funny to see what kind of things are really big news to her – like going for a walk and finding a conker, or going swimming in the big pool. I know she has only been there for a couple of months but its reassuring to know that she has settled in well and is trying her best. She is so determined to be ‘Learner of the week’ and is always a little disappointed when the accolade goes to one of her classmates (although not jealous, just determined to try even harder, which is nice!) and she is never prouder than when she gets a sticker – whether its for eating all her lunch or doing really well at reading.

Countdown to Christmas
Now Halloween and Bonfire night are over, it seems like everyone has suddenly started going Christmas crazy! And I’ve got to admit it’s crept up on me a little. I made a good start on the shopping at the weekend, when I went to the Metro Centre in Newcastle with my friend. We did find time to enjoy champagne cocktails and mojitos though, and of course try out the festive drinks at Costa – which is obligatory when Christmas shopping! I’ve got a few Christmas themed posts lined up for the next few weeks too so we are now in full on festive mode!

Half term week we were mainly getting excited for Halloween. My nieces were staying for a few days so we had lots of fun activities planned. We made spider-web cakes, decorated a haunted gingerbread house, put up some spooky decorations and carved pumpkins. We went to Muncaster Castle where the girls dressed up and did some crafts. Izzy even tried archery, although she was a bit too small. She was still really excited that she was able to give it a go, however she was disappointed she couldn’t hit the target. (more…)

This Week… 19-25 October

Izzy went to her first ever school disco – and she loved it. Afterwards she was telling me about all the songs she had been dancing to (she loved Uptown Funk, they didn’t play Little Mix much to her disgust and she doesn’t like the Conga apparently!) I was very proud of her when she told me she had used some of her pennies to buy sweets for one of her friends who didn’t have any money with him. That was really sweet of her.
