Disney Princess Itty Bittys from Hallmark

The girls (and I) love anything and everything Disney – in fact we’ve just got back from a few days at Disneyland Paris. Izzy and Clara especially love everything about the Princesses – from the dresses and tiaras to the dancing and adventures – so they were really pleased to be sent some of the new Disney Princess Itty Bitty range to review!

We were kindly sent six new Itty Bittys by Hallmark – Rapunzel, Aurora, Tinkerbell, Ariel, Belle and the Beast. The cute collectibles make perfect stocking fillers, for Disney fans of any age. There’s also a range of Frozen characters available – including Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Sven – as well as Superheroes from both the DC and Marvel franchises, and a huge range of Star Wars Itty Bittys. Izzy and Clara reviewed the Star Wars collection earlier this year – you can read our review here, or better yet watch the video they made, they really made me laugh with this one! (more…)

Our August Roundup

And just like that the Summer holidays are over. It’s back to school on Monday and with that comes darker nights and the countdown to *whispers* Christmas. It feels a bit strange thinking about the festive season when it’s still months away, but some shops already have Christmas cards in. Already. What’s that about? I have to confess I’ve bought one present – I couldn’t resist buying a cute teddy wearing dinosaur pyjamas for Clara from a new gift shop that’s just opened in town. And the kids have started their lists already – Izzy would like an electric scooter and Clara wants a Jackson Storm car from Cars 3 – although I’m sure they will change their minds several times before it gets to December. But anyway, let’s not wish away the year. With any luck Summer isn’t quite over yet, even if the holidays are. So here’s what we got up to in August.

  • We spent the bank holiday weekend in Paris. By “we” I mean me and the Hubby. Yes, we got a whole 4 nights away from the kids, thanks to the in-laws. They asked a couple of months ago if they could look after the girls for a few nights at their house over the school holidays. They live in Manchester so they don’t get to see the girls that often. Great, I thought. We can spend a few days doing some decorating, adding the finishing touches to our new home. My Hubby had other ideas, suggesting a couple of nights in York. Somehow that quickly escalated to us booking to go to Paris. Well, we might as well make the most of having babysitters!┬á (more…)

Gift Guide: Ideas for Preschoolers

It’s that time of year where toys are everywhere. The television is constantly streaming adverts, the shops are bursting with all things plastic and noisy, and the kids are talking about this toy and that game that they have seen.

This is the first year that Clara really knows about Christmas, and we have tried to explain to her the concept of Father Christmas. She’s taken to this quite well – a jolly stranger is going to bring her new toys? What’s not to like. So we gave her a toy catalogue and asked her to pick some things that she might like for Christmas. She picked a doll, a pram, a magna doodle, a toy dog and a my little pony. All sensible requests.

If you’re looking for some ideas for preschoolers, here’s our roundup of some of our favourite toys.

Our Weekly Roundup #17

  • Last weekend was packed full of parties – one each for the kids and a friend’s housewarming party for me. Clara danced and sang with Queen Elsa while Izzy ran riot in the soft play. Though going to a 5 year old’s soft play party at 11am on a Sunday morning was not the ideal place to be with a hangover!

Our Weekly Roundup #10

The first week of the Easter Holidays got off to a flying start – after our fun over the Bank Holiday weekend, this week we have visited a museum, danced with princesses, hunted for eggs and been to the theatre.

The Beacon, a local museum, currently have an exhibition all about aliens and science fiction. When I told Izzy that they had some Star Wars models there she decided that would be her treat for filling her reward chart. It took a few weeks but she eventually filled it in time for the school holidays! We visited with friends and the kids loved seeing all the life size models and designing their own aliens.
