Our Weekly Roundup #27

It’s been a few weeks since our last update. We’ve been busy here – Hubby has just got back from a week away with work, we’ve been in full on Christmas prep mode and I’m finally starting to feel better after a bad bout of illness.

  • After thinking we were all over the sickness bug it came back with a vengeance – well, for me at least! Turns out I actually had food poisoning, although I didn’t find that out until I had been ill on and off for 3 weeks. Fortunately, I’ve been feeling okay for a couple of weeks now, but unfortunately I have put on most of the weight I lost while I was ill!
  • It’s nearly December! I decided I wanted to get all the presents bought by the end of November, so that I could spend December doing nice festive things rather than trudging around the shops getting stressed and panic buying gifts that will never get used. And I’ve done it! All the presents have been bought and most have been wrapped – I’m just waiting for the last few online orders to arrive. I’ve never been this organised for Christmas before, and while there is still a lot on my to do list I’m feeling quite smug that I’ve ticked off the worst job – shopping!

Our Weekly Roundup #26

  • Half term started off well enough with a trip to the cinema to see Trolls (which is awesome by the way!) and a visit to Keswick, but unfortunately went downhill from there. We were all struck down with a tummy bug which pretty much wrote off the rest of the week.
  • My two nieces were staying with us for a few days so we had a few nice treats planned. On Tuesday we had a day out with my sister and her two boys. The older kids used the climbing wall while the younger ones explored the adventure play area. At one point Clara got stuck in the ball pool, which meant that I then got stuck in my attempt to rescue her! We then visited an optical illusion attraction which was a lot of fun, right until Clara freed the mother of all nappy fillers and we had to buy her some emergency trousers – surprisingly the only children’s trousers we could find in the Lake District was a pair of waterproofs. She didn’t let it bother her though and was quite happy!

Our Weekly Roundup #22

As Facebook is taken over with photos of excited/terrified children in too-big jumpers, it can only mean one thing – its back to school time!

While we have enjoyed the Summer holidays and I’ve tried to make the most of having some extra time with Izzy, the return to school is a welcome one. Izzy has been missing her friends and has been desperate to get back to the playground.

Our Weekly Roundup #19

The first week of the Summer holidays got off to a busy – and wet – start.

  • Izzy had her first ever dance concert. She has done a couple of medal tests before but this was the first time she has done a group dance, in front of a packed audience. She sang out loud and looked like she was having a great time. After a dress rehearsal and 2 shows though she is now shattered and we can put away the leotards and ballet shoes for a while as she has no more dance classes over the summer.IMG_20160722_195943

Our Weekly Roundup #16

  • During half term we had an amazing family trip to Legoland and Chester Zoo. We all had a great time and the girls went crazy when they realised we were going to Legoland – as we pulled up to the entrance! All the way in the car they had been shouting that we were going Slough and were really excited even though they had no idea what they were going to do there. I’ve got a couple of posts planned all about Legoland, which I’ll hopefully post next weekIMG_20160604_081941
