SEA LIFE Manchester Review

Last week we visited Sea Life Manchester – where the girls had loads of fun meeting the Octonauts, stroking snakes and starfish, and (kind of) high-fiving a turtle. We were kindly given entry to Sea Life to review the attraction, and it was a lovely way to spend a few hours as a family.

Exploring the aquarium

There are lots of different zones within the aquarium, starting with Turtle beach. Here you find out about the life of a sea turtle through an interactive presentation, and it’s cute seeing the baby turtles projected onto the sand. Next you get to see some of the most unusual looking fish and sea creatures in the rocky hideout, find out more about sharks and seahorses and explore the coral reefs. Of course the “Nemos” were Clara’s favourites, and she enjoyed ducking through the tunnel to watch them. There are a few tunnels dotted around the aquarium so children can really get up close to the fish.

Legoland Windsor: Tips to make the most of your visit

Our family are huge fans of all things Lego, so we were really excited to spend a few days at Legoland Windsor during the Easter holidays. It was our second trip to the theme park, and we’ve picked up a few tips and tricks to share with any families who are thinking about visiting.

We first visited last May, and we only told the kids we were going to stay in Slough for a few days. Honestly, I don’t think anyone has ever been so happy about going to Slough; it’s all we heard about for weeks! They had no idea what was nearby, or why we were really going there. When we got there, after an 8 hour drive, we headed straight to Legoland to pick up our tickets. As the girls saw the Lego minifigure models dotted around the side of the road, it started to dawn on them where we were going and there were wide eyes and loud screams all round!  Of course second time round they were wise to us, so we couldn’t keep it a secret – but their reaction was just as wonderful to see. Here are our top tips to get the most out of your visit to Legoland.

Museum of Manchester Review

When we were away the other weekend, we visited the Museum of Manchester. We wanted to go mainly to see the T-Rex skeleton, as Izzy has been showing an interest in dinosaurs and fossils lately, and Clara just likes anything big that roars.

I was surprised by Clara – at 2 years old I thought she would be a bit young to get much out of it but she loved it! She liked seeing all the models of the animals and even the skeletons, especially the elephant.

Winter Wonderland at Center Parcs

At the beginning of December we visited Center Parcs at Whinfell Forest in Cumbria. It was our third visit to the Winter Wonderland and it’s always a lovely way to start our Christmas celebrations.

It was a shame that the day before we went the girls both started to feel ill, with temperatures over 40 degrees, so they were both pretty tired and off their food for the first few days. They didnt let it stop them having fun and joining in. The In-laws joined us there as they have in previous years – it gives the kids chance to see them near Christmas as they live a few hours drive away. It also meant we had babysitters too!

Review: Legoland Discovery Centre, Manchester

A couple of weeks ago we kicked off a few days of birthday celebrations in Manchester with a trip to the Legoland Discovery Centre. Izzy, 4, is really starting to get into Lego and ever since I told her where we were going, she has been really looking forward to it.
