In the Night Garden Live – Save £5 on tickets to see Igglepiggle and friends!

Last year we took the girls to see In the Night Garden Live. They both loved it – and I’m pleased to be able to take them back again this year to review the show. Experience it for yourself – and save up to £5* with our discount code!

Tickets are now on sale for the world’s only live production of the popular Cbeebies show. Visiting London, Birmingham and Manchester this Summer, In the Night Garden Live is an amazing musical theatre experience for all the family. Your favourite characters are brought to life on stage using a mix of full-size costumes and puppets, to transport you to the magical world of In the Night Garden.

When we visited last year, Clara had just turned 2 and I wondered if it would be a bit much for her. However, at around an hour it was the right length to keep her interest and she was mesmerised throughout by the familiar characters. Even at 5 years old, Izzy never took her eyes off the stage and I know that she will love it just as much again this year – so it’s great for older siblings too.

According to 2016 audience surveys, 96% of parents would recommend it – it’s a great opportunity for children to get their first taste of live theatre.

The show takes place inside a purpose built inflatable showdome with family friendly facilities and there are 4 performance times to choose from each day. The show will be on the road from 25 May to 28 August at the following venues:

  • Blackheath, London, Thursday 25 May – Saturday 10 June
  • Richmond Old Deer Park, London, Saturday 17 June – Wednesday 5 July
  • Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, Wednesday 12 July – Sunday 30 July
  • Intu Trafford Centre, Manchester, Saturday 5 August – Monday 28 August

So join Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka this Summer and book your tickets today at www.NightGardenLive.com. Enter EARLY66H at the checkout and save up to £5* off your order.

*Coupon will take £5 off orders over £60, or 5% off orders under £60. Ts & Cs apply, please visit www.nightgardenlive.com/terms-and-conditions for more info.

Winter Wonderland at Center Parcs

At the beginning of December we visited Center Parcs at Whinfell Forest in Cumbria. It was our third visit to the Winter Wonderland and it’s always a lovely way to start our Christmas celebrations.

It was a shame that the day before we went the girls both started to feel ill, with temperatures over 40 degrees, so they were both pretty tired and off their food for the first few days. They didnt let it stop them having fun and joining in. The In-laws joined us there as they have in previous years – it gives the kids chance to see them near Christmas as they live a few hours drive away. It also meant we had babysitters too!

Review: Legoland Discovery Centre, Manchester

A couple of weeks ago we kicked off a few days of birthday celebrations in Manchester with a trip to the Legoland Discovery Centre. Izzy, 4, is really starting to get into Lego and ever since I told her where we were going, she has been really looking forward to it.

10 things I loved about our family holiday

We have recently been to Albufeira in Portugal for a family holiday. The break (ha! like holidaying with children can be called a break!) was a welcome one – I was definitely in need of a change of scenery. My husband booked this holiday when Clara was just a few days old. At that point looking through holiday brochures was really the last thing on my mind, and as I’d yet to leave the house with two kids the thought of leaving the country was unfathomable. But fast forward a year, with my return to work imminent, the trip couldn’t have come at a better time.

1. Meeting a dolphin
We went to Zoomarine, not far from Albufeira. There was so much to do, including some rides, a dinosaur attraction, aquarium, water park and slides and 4D cinema. And of course the main attractions – the dolphin, sea lion and tropical bird shows. We didn’t even get chance to go to the water park, we just ran out of time. Clara loved the sea lion show, clapping and cheering every time they did tricks. The dolphin show was Izzy’s favourite and afterwards she got to meet one of the dolphins. She said it felt like plastic as she stroked it’s nose and posed for a photo.

A family day out at Gulliver’s World

A couple of weeks ago we spent the day at Gulliver’s World Theme Park in Warrington. I have been there as a child but not as an adult so I wasn’t really sure what to expect.

There were a lot more rides than I thought there would be, and lots of climbing frames and outdoor play areas so you can easily fill an entire day. We spent 7 hours there and managed to go on all the rides that we wanted to, some more than once, but we were lucky that despite it being Easter weekend we hardly had to queue.
