Christmas Gift Guide: Stocking Fillers for Kids

It’s only 2 weeks to go until the big day – and those Christmas preparations are in full swing! Presents have been bought, the tree is up, the turkey is ordered and now it’s down to sorting out those finishing touches. But while the presents for under the tree may have been bought, what about stocking fillers? It was an orange and a pack of knickers when I was little, but I think my five year old would think Father Christmas had lost it if he was leaving fruit and underwear in her stocking! So instead he will be leaving a few little toys, bubbles, and some chocolate coins. If you are still looking for some inspiration, here’s a roundup of some small gifts that would be perfect to find in those stockings on Christmas morning.

Homemade gifts for kids to make

When it comes to Christmas, I think it’s nice for the kids to get involved with making cards and presents – especially for grandparents and teachers.

In this busy festive season, time is of the essence – plus I know my little ones are fiercely independent and like to do as much as they can themselves. You want homemade gifts that look nice but are fairly easy for children to make. Here’s a round-up of some of the gifts that we have made in the past, plus a few new ideas.

Where possible, I’ve included links so you can easily purchase the materials you need. Just click on any of the links to be taken to Amazon. These are affiliate links – this means that if you click on any of the Amazon links in this post and go on to make a purchase, I will make a small amount of commission.

Shrinky dink keyrings

I saw this idea on this blog and it took me back to when I was little and used to make shrinky dink keyrings and badges. Izzy loved doing this – she sat at the table and drew pictures of all her favourite people on the special plastic. She even made two featuring her school badge for her teachers. As she finished each one, I just popped a hole in the top using a hole punch, and put in the oven. They only take about 10-20 seconds to shrink down, then you add the keyrings and these are really quick, easy gifts.

Christmas Gift Guide: Ideas for Preschoolers

It’s that time of year where toys are everywhere. The television is constantly streaming adverts, the shops are bursting with all things plastic and noisy, and the kids are talking about this toy and that game that they have seen.

This is the first year that Clara really knows about Christmas, and we have tried to explain to her the concept of Father Christmas. She’s taken to this quite well – a jolly stranger is going to bring her new toys? What’s not to like. So we gave her a toy catalogue and asked her to pick some things that she might like for Christmas. She picked a doll, a pram, a magna doodle, a toy dog and a my little pony. All sensible requests.

If you’re looking for some ideas for preschoolers, here’s our roundup of some of our favourite toys.

Welcome to my first ever Linky!

Christmas preparations are in full swing; I’m slowly adding ideas to my present-buying list but still need some inspiration for those hard-to-buy-for family members. Gift Guides are a great idea as they bring together the best present ideas from a range of different brands, stores and websites. I’m working on a series of blog posts, from gift ideas for Star Wars fans to the best Advent Calendars for all the family and I’ll be sharing them in this Linky, along with (hopefully) lots of other bloggers’ gift guides!

So please share your gift ideas and help fellow readers find that perfect present this Christmas.
