Give the Gift of Fizz with Bubble Box

With the cold nights drawing in, I like nothing more than a quiet night at home, watching a film or playing board games and enjoying a glass or two of something fizzy. Sure, I’d like to say that I’m gearing up for the party season but the reality is that my two young children have a better social life than me. Weekends used to mean staying out until 2am and drinking the bar dry… now I prefer slippers to stilettos and weekends are a chance to unwind and celebrate another week of surviving the school run.

So when we had the chance to try out a Bubble Club delivery, I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately when it first arrived I was suffering from food poisoning so for a couple of weeks the box just sat there taunting me. However, once I was feeling well again, what better way to celebrate my recovery than with a glass of Prosecco!

Homemade gifts for kids to make

When it comes to Christmas, I think it’s nice for the kids to get involved with making cards and presents – especially for grandparents and teachers.

In this busy festive season, time is of the essence – plus I know my little ones are fiercely independent and like to do as much as they can themselves. You want homemade gifts that look nice but are fairly easy for children to make. Here’s a round-up of some of the gifts that we have made in the past, plus a few new ideas.

Book Review: Rocking and Reading with Jungle Jam

Like most children, my girls love listening to stories and always run to the bookshelf to pick out a book for bedtime. So when we were asked to review a new children’s book, I couldn’t say no. We were kindly sent a copy of Jungle Jam, which tells the tale of Mikey the Monkey’s trip through the jungle and all the animal friends he encounters along the way – each playing a different instrument.

As soon as Clara saw it she kept asking us to read the ‘monkey book’, and we’ve since read it a few times (and as we usually have to read ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ every single night, trust me, this has made a nice change!)  (more…)

Gift Guide: Ideas for Preschoolers

It’s that time of year where toys are everywhere. The television is constantly streaming adverts, the shops are bursting with all things plastic and noisy, and the kids are talking about this toy and that game that they have seen.

This is the first year that Clara really knows about Christmas, and we have tried to explain to her the concept of Father Christmas. She’s taken to this quite well – a jolly stranger is going to bring her new toys? What’s not to like. So we gave her a toy catalogue and asked her to pick some things that she might like for Christmas. She picked a doll, a pram, a magna doodle, a toy dog and a my little pony. All sensible requests.

If you’re looking for some ideas for preschoolers, here’s our roundup of some of our favourite toys.
