New research from Mothercare has revealed that 69% of parents say their kid’s favourite cuddly toy is a must-pack holiday item.
For us, we can’t go anywhere overnight without taking Seahorse. He is Izzy’s favourite toy; she’s had him since she was 1 day old. He smells a bit funky, the pink fur has turned grey in places and the light up tummy isn’t as bright as it once was but she loves him regardless.
“Thank God its Friday” is an often uttered phrase, but now I have kids it has a completely different meaning from when I was in my child-free early twenties.
Then I used to desperately wish the week away and rush out of work on a Friday to spend a couple of hours getting ready, before heading out with my friends. Friday night out was usually followed by Saturday night out… and the weekend would be a blur of blue wkd and apple sourz. Then Monday would come and I’d start the countdown again.
Now when Friday rolls round, I’m thankful for very different reasons. Like no more school run for 2 days.
Nits. The one word guaranteed to send you into a head-scratching frenzy. Even as I write this my head feels unbearably itchy just with the thought of them!
We’ve been having a bit of a problem with Clara over the past few months. She has been pulling her hair out which has resulted in some big patches where her hair is thinning and short. It’s a comfort thing – she sucks her thumb on one hand and with the other she plays with her hair, wrapping it around her fingers and pulling it. As she always sucks her left thumb, she only pulls the hair she can reach with her right hand – so she has lovely blond curls on one side of her head and short, wispy hair on the other side. However, in the past few weeks the situation has really improved and we are feeling positive that she’s going to break this habit.
The turning point was when I searched on-line for advice on how to stop toddlers pulling their hair out. I came across this website for a company called Scratch Sleeves. I ordered a set of Scratch Mitts for Clara to try, and then the company very kindly sent Clara a PJ top to review.
Family life can be hectic at times – it can be a juggling act trying to manage work, the nursery drop-off, school runs and all those extra-curricular activities. And that’s before you even think about making a start on the housework. So when it comes to mealtimes, cooking healthy meals from scratch is probably the last thing you have time for!
So when Clara and I were asked to try out some Kiddyum frozen meals they sounded like they could be the answer. On the days I’m not working, I’m chauffeuring my eldest daughter to after-school dance classes and swimming lessons, so by the time we get home the kids are starving and don’t want to wait ages while I cook tea. I need to get something on the table pretty quick, but at the same time I want to make sure my children are eating healthy and nutritious food. (more…)
