Happy New Year – What does 2017 have in store?

Happy New Year everyone!

After a short blogging break over the festive period, I’m back with a bit of a round up of 2016 and a look ahead at what this year will bring. We had a lovely Christmas, the girls were both very lucky and got lots of nice things. They enjoyed putting out a mince pie for Father Christmas and leaving out their stockings – and Clara’s little face when she saw Baby Annabell and a new pram on Christmas morning!

Our Weekly Roundup #28

Like many households we are in full on Christmas mode. The tree is up, presents are bought and wrapped and the turkey is ordered.

  • This year I have been really organised. Well, really organised for me – I’m usually rushing about a couple of days before Christmas panic buying last minute gifts. This year I decided that December is manic enough without causing even more stress, so I set myself a target of buying all gifts by the end of November – and I did it. Which is no mean feat with a family my size. With that huge task ticked off the list, it’s meant that this month we could focus on fun and festivities.

Our Weekly Roundup #27

It’s been a few weeks since our last update. We’ve been busy here – Hubby has just got back from a week away with work, we’ve been in full on Christmas prep mode and I’m finally starting to feel better after a bad bout of illness.

  • After thinking we were all over the sickness bug it came back with a vengeance – well, for me at least! Turns out I actually had food poisoning, although I didn’t find that out until I had been ill on and off for 3 weeks. Fortunately, I’ve been feeling okay for a couple of weeks now, but unfortunately I have put on most of the weight I lost while I was ill!
  • It’s nearly December! I decided I wanted to get all the presents bought by the end of November, so that I could spend December doing nice festive things rather than trudging around the shops getting stressed and panic buying gifts that will never get used. And I’ve done it! All the presents have been bought and most have been wrapped – I’m just waiting for the last few online orders to arrive. I’ve never been this organised for Christmas before, and while there is still a lot on my to do list I’m feeling quite smug that I’ve ticked off the worst job – shopping!

Our Weekly Roundup #26

  • Half term started off well enough with a trip to the cinema to see Trolls (which is awesome by the way!) and a visit to Keswick, but unfortunately went downhill from there. We were all struck down with a tummy bug which pretty much wrote off the rest of the week.
  • My two nieces were staying with us for a few days so we had a few nice treats planned. On Tuesday we had a day out with my sister and her two boys. The older kids used the climbing wall while the younger ones explored the adventure play area. At one point Clara got stuck in the ball pool, which meant that I then got stuck in my attempt to rescue her! We then visited an optical illusion attraction which was a lot of fun, right until Clara freed the mother of all nappy fillers and we had to buy her some emergency trousers – surprisingly the only children’s trousers we could find in the Lake District was a pair of waterproofs. She didn’t let it bother her though and was quite happy!

Our Weekly Roundup #25

  • This week we went to see Disney on Ice presents Frozen at the MEN arena in Manchester. The girls – and I – loved it. They both dressed as Anna to watch the story of Frozen told through ice skating. There was snow, pyrotechnics, Sven on skates and a moving sled – and even a giant inflatable snow monster! It was a great show and kept Clara’s attention throughout with the popular characters and familiar songs.
