Our Weekly Roundup #27

It’s been a few weeks since our last update. We’ve been busy here – Hubby has just got back from a week away with work, we’ve been in full on Christmas prep mode and I’m finally starting to feel better after a bad bout of illness.

  • After thinking we were all over the sickness bug it came back with a vengeance – well, for me at least! Turns out I actually had food poisoning, although I didn’t find that out until I had been ill on and off for 3 weeks. Fortunately, I’ve been feeling okay for a couple of weeks now, but unfortunately I have put on most of the weight I lost while I was ill!
  • It’s nearly December! I decided I wanted to get all the presents bought by the end of November, so that I could spend December doing nice festive things rather than trudging around the shops getting stressed and panic buying gifts that will never get used. And I’ve done it! All the presents have been bought and most have been wrapped – I’m just waiting for the last few online orders to arrive. I’ve never been this organised for Christmas before, and while there is still a lot on my to do list I’m feeling quite smug that I’ve ticked off the worst job – shopping!

Our Weekly Roundup #26

  • Half term started off well enough with a trip to the cinema to see Trolls (which is awesome by the way!) and a visit to Keswick, but unfortunately went downhill from there. We were all struck down with a tummy bug which pretty much wrote off the rest of the week.
  • My two nieces were staying with us for a few days so we had a few nice treats planned. On Tuesday we had a day out with my sister and her two boys. The older kids used the climbing wall while the younger ones explored the adventure play area. At one point Clara got stuck in the ball pool, which meant that I then got stuck in my attempt to rescue her! We then visited an optical illusion attraction which was a lot of fun, right until Clara freed the mother of all nappy fillers and we had to buy her some emergency trousers – surprisingly the only children’s trousers we could find in the Lake District was a pair of waterproofs. She didn’t let it bother her though and was quite happy!

Our Weekly Roundup #25

  • This week we went to see Disney on Ice presents Frozen at the MEN arena in Manchester. The girls – and I – loved it. They both dressed as Anna to watch the story of Frozen told through ice skating. There was snow, pyrotechnics, Sven on skates and a moving sled – and even a giant inflatable snow monster! It was a great show and kept Clara’s attention throughout with the popular characters and familiar songs.

Our Weekly Roundup #24

  • This week I went along to my first ever event as a blogger; it was the launch of the Booths Christmas range at one of their Cumbrian stores. I was really nervous as I didn’t know what to expect and I was completely out of my comfort zone, but it was really interesting and I hope it’s the first of many. I met fellow blogger Steph from Mental Parentals, and even though we’d never met before I still felt like she was a familiar face just from reading her blog!

Our Weekly Roundup #23

It’s October, people! I’m not quite sure how that happened, as it feels like we have barely been in 2016 for five minutes, but it does mean that we are on the countdown to Halloween and of course Christmas. It might be almost 3 months away but the Christmas cards are lining the shelves already and the first of October kind of feels like we can officially start planning for the festive season.

We haven’t done a roundup for a while as we have been on holiday. We had an amazing time in Portugal and Izzy was excited to go back to school and tell all her friends about how she kissed a dolphin – the highlight of the holiday! She took a photo in for show and tell and has been proudly telling anyone who would listen all about it.
