It’s so hard being 4. Or so our daughter reminds us on an almost daily basis. When she is being a little monkey (yeah, let’s stick with monkey) and things aren’t quite going her way, she comes out with some often hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, retorts.
I try not to take it personally. She is quite fickle and within five minutes I will be back to being the “best Mummy in the world”. Which sounds like a huge compliment, until you hear her say in the same breath that Daddy is the best “in the whole universe”! (more…)
We picked up Izzy’s new glasses this week. Her prescription has changed quite a lot so it will take her a few days to get used to them.
Clara is six months old. How did that happen? Where have the last few months gone?
She now has three teeth – which have seemingly sprung from nowhere – and a week ago we introduced food. The greedy girl just can’t get enough. She wolfs down the portions of pureed carrot, parsnip, apple or pear and then cries when its all gone.
I’ve been freezing portions of fruit and veg in small pots and ice cube trays, defrosting what I need each day to save time. But none of this starting with one or two ice-cube sized portions, oh no – within a week she is having 6 cubes worth at a time, 2 meals a day (on top of her usual milk feeds) and still wanting more. Frozen has officially taken over our lives. I know this because of the following things that have happened lately…
1. Izzy can (and incessantly does) reenact the entire film word for word complete with actions and facial expressions. She gives me roles to play but gets really annoyed if I don’t get the words exactly right.
2. Whenever anyone in our house starts a sentence with the words “Do you…”, someone quickly jumps in with “wanna build a snowman?” (more…)
